Mindfulness Introduction with Dr. Theresa

August 19, 2019 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Mindfulness is an integrative, natural approach that helps people to focus their thoughts and feelings for improved health and wellness.  Mindfulness meditation exercises are easy ways to help one focus on the present moment, similar to traditional techniques like meditation, deep breathing, and yoga. In this fun, experiential workshop, you will learn how to incorporate mindfulness meditation practices into your daily routine, to boost clarity, relaxation, and focus for enhanced physical, mental and emotional health, with simple techniques you can apply anywhere, anytime.  Mindfulness is a type of concentration in which one focuses on being aware of what you’re feeling and sensing in the moment, without judgment, criticism or interpretation, as a detached observer.  Mindful practice may include guided imagery, breathing exercises, and other practices to relax and ease stress. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Spending too much time planning, problem-solving, daydreaming, or thinking negative or random thoughts can be draining. It can also make you more likely to experience stress, anxiety and symptoms of depression. Practicing mindfulness exercises can help you direct your attention away from this kind of thinking and engage with the world around you.
